Ask Your HR Guy!
Human Resources can be one of those tricky, convoluted business topics, especially in the public sector. If you’ve ever had a question that you wanted to ask your HR person but never have, I’d like to help! Just remember that my areas of “expertise” have been in employee relations, and labor relations (sorry I don’t do recruiting or staffing…but I know some really awesome people who might be able to help).
Feel free to drop me a line at ernie.tamayo2@gmail.com. I’m more than happy to provide you a personal opinion on your topic question of choice. Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Hello,
I am a contractor for a Federal agency. My duty station is in Puerto Rico. I was told by contracting office (also located in the U.S.) that if I want to vote I need to take personal leave to do so. Can you please let me know if this is correct?

Hello Anabel,
Without knowing the specifics of the contract you’re working under, I can’t give you a definitive answer. However, in general, administrative leave entitlements are for Federal employees. I hope this helps!
